Villa Valmarana, called “Ai Nani”, dates back to 1669 when the lawyer Giovanni Maria Bertolo decided to build it as a summer house.
Later, the villa was bought by Giustino Valmarana that extended the villa with guestroom and stable. The villa is surrounded by the wonderful garden.
The villa named of 17 sculptures dwarfs made by stone. Once a time the dwarfs were located in the garden, now they are on the protective wall that surrounded the propriety.
The legend of Princess Layana, a dwarf lady, tells that the Princess was confined in the castle with 20 dwarfs servants. When the princess discover her identity she committed suicide.
Inside the villa you can admire the precious frescoes made by Tiepolo and his son Giandomenico. These frescoes represents mytological or daily life scenes. If you want to stay in the villa it is possible thanks to two suites on the first floor. The suites are “Achille” and “Ifigenia” and they have every kind of comfort. They are the perfect solution if you want to relax.
Villa Valmarana ai Nani with his different structure Palazzina, Foresteria, Portico, Terrazze and Giardin is ideal to organize any kind of event such as business meetings, photo shoots, concerts, ceremonies, wine tasting…
There is a bookshop where you can find postcards with the villa’s frescoes, books, guided tours books of Vicenza.
